Meet Our New Religious School Education Director

We are thrilled to welcome Sharon Acierno as our new Religious School Education Director! Morah Sharon will supervise the school curriculum bringing experiential methods and hands-on activities to our classrooms.

Her vast experience as a lifelong teacher in supplemental Hebrew schools, working at Yeshivas, as a literacy coach, educating staff, and as principal at Temple Hatikvah in Flanders, NJ, have helped her establish a broad educator’s toolbox to enhance the already-established curriculum at TBEMC.

Morah Sharon stresses project-based learning methods and strongly believes in immersing students in Judaism to create a fun and memorable learning environment. We are excited that Rabbi Kerbel and Morah Sharon are working hand in hand to institute many new family programs including the pre Rosh Hashana Fair, Sukkot Shindig, Journey to Matzoh Baking, and much more. They also hope to create special workshops for our pre B’nai Mitzvah students.

She is delighted to join the TBEMC family, and we can’t wait for the students to meet her! You can also meet Morah Sharon & our Religious School Teachers in person on August 17 at our Religious School Open House from 5-7 pm. Bring a friend and come on by to see all that we have to offer. We can’t wait to reconnect!

A murder mystery, a comedy show, a Zumba class – see what we’ve been up to…

With this year being different in so many ways, we’ve also found new ways to keep spirits high among our members!

In late- February, we hosted our 2nd annual Trivia Night and Tricky Tray fundraiser to a sold-out crowd.
Our Sisterhood recently put on a Murder Mystery through Zoom where our members investigated–and were suspects in–a murder. Who knew we had so many characters in our temple?

Other recent events at TBEMC:

  • A film series celebrating Jewish comedies, from Brighton Beach Memoirs to Keeping the Faith
  • A stand-up comedy show
  • A virtual Zumba class
A lifelong learning class on the history of The Beatles

Stay tuned for more fun events at TBEMC!
